Pascual was a humble shepherd in Spain who became a Franciscan lay brother. He worked tirelessly among the brothers as a shepherd, their vegetable gardener, and their cook. He was known as a compassionate friend to the poor and sick who would come to the monastery’s door for food and comfort. He is associated with a generous spirit and joyful cooking.
